Take Action and Move closer towards your goal

Hey Readers,

Do you feel like you have so many dreams that you wanted to accomplish, but find yourself not able to any or most of them?

Do you feel like you wanted to pursue your habits, but you do not find time to do the same?

Well, I am also one among you, before I decided to do something about it.

My Story:

Ever since I was introduced to the amazing world of novels, Percy Jackson and The LightningLightning Thief by Rick Riordan, I was smitten by it.

I wanted to write novels and publish them out in the world. I wanted my readers to feel the same way I felt after reading those novels.

While searching for how to write novels online, I was then introduced to blogging by Johnny B Truant. I liked his article and wanted to write about my writing process online, share my experiences through blog posts.

It was then that I created an account in wordpress.com and wrote blog posts now and then. I didn’t know what to write though. Still, I wrote on and off, not staying consistent.

It was the same with my novel-writing process. Recently, I had started to write many novels, but couldn’t get past few chapters as I felt that they are not enough.

It was the time that I change this writing habit and found out various techniques. But there was so much info out there that I was overwhelmed and dropped the idea of writing both novels and blog posts.

Take action:

It was then that I came across the idea of taking action. It was true that there was more information out there. We shouldn’t waste our time feeling scared about the things that we don’t know.

What we need to do instead was, pick a single thing that you wanted to focus on your chosen project, implement that single thing and finish this current project.

It would be utter crap, I am sure of it. But as you finish the project, BY TAKING ACTION, you would be moving closer towards your goal.

You would then use the momentum that you have gained to the next step. Focus on the next step/technique you wanted to implement, then TAKE ACTION on it and finish it. You would be much closer to your dream than you have ever if you were thinking about what to do or confused or overwhelmed about options you have in front of you.

What did I do?

When it came to blogging, I worked on consistency first. I decided to post at least one blog post these past few weeks. It might be crap, but I still pushed myself to post at least once during each week.

Next, I decided to work on the structure of certain blog posts, like this one. I found structure online and implemented it. I didn’t give overthinking a chance, instead, trusted that by following the structure, I would be able to improve my blog posts further.

I would continue to move forward, BY TAKING ACTION, by publishing every week and improve myself. Improve my writing day by day.

Coming towards novel writing, it was a humongous task, compared to writing a blog post. I decided to work on my outline first.

I followed Libbie Hawker’s Take Off Your Pants! Outline Your Books for Faster, Better Writing and finished outline. I have a few tweaks before I would write chapters and once it’s finished, I would write to let you know my results.

Key takeaways:

  • If there were multiple options/ways to achieve your goal/hobby that you wanted to pursue, then chose the one that was easy to implement.
  • Chose only one option or technique to work on now.
  • TAKE ACTION upon it immediately, by actually implementing the technique.
  • Once it’s finished, you could pick up the next technique or option you wanted to implement, integrate it to your previous technique/option and repeat the above steps.
